The noisy send-off finally came to an end, and as I was about to head out after hearing that the carriage had arrived—

A small voice called out.
I turned to see a girl peeking her head out.
Her big, blinking brown eyes met mine, and I smiled.
“Anne.”
The girl trotted over to me in her small, lively steps.
