Chapter 48: Sado Alliance (2)
“Where can I find these missions?”
“They’re posted in the main hall, but… Even if you aim for the top ten, there’s no single mission that would give you enough points in one go.”
“Still, I need to see them.”
“Well, let’s go together.”
Jang Sam opened the door, and they stepped out.
The scene before us was a row of luxurious buildings.
Everything had a polished, grandiose look.
“Wow, this place is fancy.”
“Well, it’s the largest faction in the Unorthodox Alliance.”
Suddenly, a loud bang echoed from one of the nearby buildings.
An explosion, it seemed.
A wall was blasted apart, and a man came flying out, spitting blood from his mouth.
Jang Sam’s eyes widened in shock.
“Th-That’s… isn’t that Baek Sagongja?”
“Someone I know?”
“That’s Baek Sagongja, the half-brother of the Master!”
A figure emerged from the wreckage.
A woman, her fist clenched, radiating a fierce energy.
“Who do you think you are, touching me like that, you pervert!”
“Uh?”
Minwoo cocked his head, recognizing the voice.
He looked at her face and saw a familiar one.
“Seo Yerim?”
Her eyes widened when she saw him.
“Minwoo! You’re here?”
Only then did he realize who had caused the commotion.
It was the Sword of Justice Seo Yerim.
“What brings you here?”
“I came to save you.”
“Why?”
“Because if you died, I think grandfather would be sad,”
Wow.
He knew she was fond of her grandfather, but he didn’t think it was this serious.
He was inwardly impressed.
Meanwhile, Baek Sagongja was staggering to his feet, glaring at him and Seo Yerim.
His eyes were ablaze with suspicion.
“So, Baek Socheon, you’ve been messing with my new maid? Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about, you worthless Bastard!”
“Maid?”
“Don’t play dumb, You Bastard! Just because I got slapped by the maid doesn’t mean you can claim her!”
He seemed to be conjuring up some dramatic love story in his head.
Soon, several guards came rushing to his side.
“Baek Sagongja! Are you okay?”
“I’m fine! As if a slap from a maid could knock me down!”
He tried to play it cool, but Kim Minwoo couldn’t help but think:
Wait, he got slapped, and that’s what sent him flying?
It seemed like Seo Yerim’s strength had reached monstrous levels.
‘Well, considering she’s an awakened being known for being beyond A-rank, her stats must be off the charts. All those years of training must’ve paid off in unimaginable ways.’
“Seo Yerim, are you a maid?”
“Pfft. I don’t know. I guess that’s the role I ended up with, but getting assigned to some pervert’s place… it’s a mess.”
“If you’re going to be a maid, why not be mine? It’d be a better option.”
“Isn’t there an option where I don’t have to be a maid at all?”
“In this era, it’s not that easy to escape a predetermined role.”
Baek Sagongja nodded vigorously at his words, agreeing for all the wrong reasons.
“You spoke well, Bastard! How dare a mere maid slap me? Insolent! I will break your limbs!”
He roared, drawing his sword, his guards following suit.
Kim Minwoo stepped forward, ready to intervene.
“What’s with you calling me ‘Bastard’ all the time? Isn’t it annoying for the listener?”
“Is it wrong to call someone a ‘Bastard’ when they don’t even know who their mother is? Doesn’t everyone think so?”
The guards remained silent.
No matter how true it might be that Baek Socheon, as the fifth child, had little status or martial ability, it’s not like they could openly agree with Baek Sagongja.
After all, he was still a descendant of the leader.
However, their silent smirks spoke volumes.
Sure, he wasn’t a martial arts prodigy, and yes, he was a drunkard who spent his days at brothels, but they were just some low-level guards, mere foot soldiers.
Even if Baek Sagongja was there to protect them, they knew better than to cross certain lines.
Kim Minwoo looked over at Jang Sam.
“Hey, Jang Sam.”
“Yes, Young Master.”
“You saw them laugh at me, right?”
“Uh… well…”
Jang Sam hesitated, his eyes darting back and forth, clearly caught off guard by the question.
He had to apply a bit of pressure, literally.
Kim Minwoo grabbed his shoulder, and his unexpected grip made Jang Sam’s face turn beet red.
“You saw it, didn’t you?”
He asked, tightening his grip just enough to make his point clear.
“Y-Yes! I saw them! This is Jang Sam, I saw it clearly with my own eyes!”
“Good job.”
He released his grip on Jang Sam’s shoulder.
Now that he had a witness, he drew his sword.
“When a minion laughs at their master, they deserve to die, right?”
“Has this Bastard lost its mind…”
Baek Sagongja scoffed, mocking his statement.
But just then, something changed.
“What’s this?”
“What the heck!”
Nearly thirty warriors panicked as their legs were suddenly grabbed by hundreds of white bones.
“Urgh!”
The sounds of screaming echoed as multiple weapons pierced from all directions, quickly taking out half a dozen warriors.
“Stop them!”
The warriors ignited their blades with mana, swinging them in every direction, a display of martial arts.
‘Looks like their levels are around 200.’
While they might be martial artists from the martial world, they weren’t supernatural; they used mana and swung weapons like everyone else—just with a bit more flair.
‘That’s not enough to win.’
His skeleton army, with an average level of 51 and armed with magic-set items, were not only well-geared but had also gained significant combat experience.
With hundreds of skeletons launching a surprise attack, there was no way a mere thirty warriors could stand their ground.
As the warriors gained more injuries from the relentless attacks, the few who managed to kill a skeleton were in for a surprise—they simply came back to life and continued fighting.
“Necromancy! Take out the caster! Kill Baek Socheon!”
Baek Sagongja shouted, pointing at me.
His warriors redirected their assault toward me with menacing expressions.
But just as they closed in, Cedric, who had been waiting patiently, swung his spear.
Boom!
Five warriors’ heads burst like fireworks, causing the rest to halt abruptly in shock.
“Dear God…”
“He’s a master!”

The spear-wielding skeleton, towering over the others by half a head, was no ordinary skeleton.
His one strike showed them he was a high-level master, far beyond their capabilities.
The second-rate warriors fell in an instant, leaving only Baek Sagongja standing.
[Level increased by 1!]
“Jang Sam.”
“Y-Yes!”
Jang Sam, in shock, was staring at the pool of blood around him.
“Is it okay to kill him?”
“Uhh… the leader might not like it…”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Killing some warriors is one thing, but if you kill his son Baek Sagongja, it could get a bit… complicated…”
“Got it.”
He nodded and approached Baek Sagongja, who was barely standing, his body torn and bleeding from the numerous attacks.
“Kneel.”
The skeletons disarmed him and forced him to his knees.
Kim Minwoo grabbed him by the hair, pulling his head back to meet his eyes.
“Hey,”
“H-heek…!”
He recoiled, an unpleasant stench filling the air as he wet himself in fear.
The ground was wet beneath him.
“Why do you think we’re fighting?”
When he didn’t answer, Kim Minwoo slapped him hard across the face.
A few teeth clattered to the ground, and his eyes widened in shock at the sheer force of the blow.
“Didn’t hear me?”
“I-I heard you! It was my fault! I-I was too presumptuous!”
“You’re not going to act up again, right?”
He nodded frantically.
“But who told you to just nod your head? That’s disrespectful,”
He snapped, slapping him again.
Another set of teeth hit the ground, and tears streamed down his face.
“I-I won’t! I really won’t!”
“Alright, just making sure. So, about that maid you have—I’m taking her. Cool?”
“G-go ahead! You can have her!”
With that settled, Kim Minwoo decided to get some closure.
“Alright, but you really pissed me off by calling me a Bastard. That wasn’t cool.”
“I-I know! I was wrong!”
“Sure, but there needs to be some consequences, right? I think breaking your legs should be enough, and you’re lucky you won’t die.”
“S-sure!”
“Alright, stand still, or it’ll hurt more,”
Just then, a voice called from behind me.
“Are you really going to crush his legs?”
Kim Minwoo turned to see an old man watching him.
“Who are you?”
“Hoho. Have you forgotten me already? I’m the Second Elder,”
Behind him, Minwoo could sense a significant build-up of mana.
‘This guy was the real deal, with a level of at least 400 or higher.’
“Second Elder. If I don’t crush his legs, are you offering me something in return?”
“No, why would I do that?”
“Then I’ll just go ahead and do it.”
Crack!
The sound of bones breaking echoed, and his feet flopped limply, as if they had been torn apart.
Baek Sagongja lost consciousness, his face slumping to the ground.
The Second Elder blinked in disbelief at what just happened.
“Why do that? This isn’t some stodgy orthodox sect.”
“Yeah, and that’s why I did it.”
“Well, I guess that’s not the main issue here, Fifth Young Master, you’re coming with me.”
“Why?”
“The Leader has summoned you.”
“Alright, let’s go.”
Meeting the head of the Sado Alliance Leader was something he had to do at least once.
As the elder glided smoothly along the path, he tried to keep up, but he didn’t have his level of movement technique.
He had to make do with a brisk walk, using whatever tricks he could to maintain the pace.
It wasn’t too difficult, and he managed to follow along.
As they left, Seo Yerim was left standing alone, her eyes fixed ahead in a daze.
The battle had ended before she could even do much of anything, and it was clear she was bewildered.
‘How is he that strong?’
She wondered, recalling the utter devastation he had caused with a simple hand gesture.
The skeleton warriors he summoned, especially Cedric, were of a different class entirely.
Cedric’s skill with a spear was so precise that even she, a high-level fighter, would struggle against him in a straight fight.
Her mind raced with questions.
She began to suspect that his entrance into the gate wasn’t just by chance.
He seemed too prepared, too strong to have been dragged in by accident.
‘Did he plan to enter all along?’
She wondered, recalling how he had seemingly stumbled his way into the gate but then acted with such control and power.
‘Why’d he leave me here?’
At that moment, a familiar voice interrupted her thoughts.
It was Jang Sam, the servant who had accompanied me.
“Ahem! Nice to be working with you. I’m Jang Sam, the only faithful servant of the Fifth Young Master. The Young Master relies heavily on me.”
Seo Yerim rolled her eyes.
“Yeah, sure.”
“Since we’re both servants, we should stick together. You can call me Senior Brother, or if that’s too formal, you can call me Big Brother Jang. It has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”
“Hey.”
“Yes?”
“Stop lowering your voice like that, and just tell me how old you are.”
“Um, I’m twenty.”
“Not forty?”
“Forty? Why would you—”
“I’m twenty-two. Just call me sister or something. Don’t try to act all senior when you barely have any skills.”
“What? How could you—”
Jang Sam’s eyes widened as Seo Yerim’s hand lightly touched his throat.
There was a faint hint of sword energy in her touch, sharp and chilling.
His heart skipped a beat.
This maid was a true expert, the kind of high-level fighter that he couldn’t even imagine.
“Am I wrong? Isn’t it true that in martial arts, the strongest is the one in charge?”
“Yes, Sister,”
Now that he thought about it, didn’t she send the Fourth young master flying in a slap?
Jang Sam’s attitude naturally became polite.
Seo Yerim released her hold.
“Lead the way. I don’t know where I’m supposed to go.”
“Yes, Sister,”
Jang Sam replied, swallowing hard.
He walked ahead, unsure of where he was leading her, but one thing was clear: he didn’t want to provoke her again.
[TL/N: Few things/changes to note- 1) Heretic Temple -> Sado Alliance 2) Sado Alliance is the part of the Unorthodox Alliance not the Unorthodox Alliance itself 3) Righteous Alliance -> Murim Alliance (to stay consistent with the original murim terminologies with what everyone is familiar with) 4) Dragon-Phoenix Tournament -> Dragon-phoenix Gathering (Tournament is something which will occur after they go in the gathering) 5) The Dragon-Phoenix gathering is happening between Murim Alliance, Unorthodox Alliance and The Demonic Cult.
PS: I do hope if there are some inconsistencies left, you guys bear it with us, as both me and the pr are not familiar with murim translation]
